The most audacious chapter of the M:I series doesn't invent anything new but rather enlarges the scale on what's been done. A runaway train climax incorporates flying props and lopsided angles signatured in Titanic and Inception. All along the way the film inwardly laughs at itself and with us the ridiculous odds that protagonist vanquishes. The plot parallels current events in eerie timing.
