This classic, meditative, thriller has an uneven pace and is unpredictable. There is no soundtrack, the menacing villain and bouts of silence serve as tension in this anti-caper masterpiece. Bardem plays one of the most mysterious and legendary bad guys in movie history. His origin is unknown. The film is a good vs evil detector, but it is not preachy. Coen brothers' best film since Blood Simple.
