Donnie Darko defined the 80's recreation era that was to follow. The silly bunny rabbit mystery figure fits right into its time warp plot--not so much convoluted as a primary point of sci-fi inspiration. Fascinated with high school lit class philosophy, themes bounce around like electrons in random events with no explanation. The Gyllenhaal siblings act out a family that's fun to be immersed in.
